## Mission

HKM Mumbai is founded on the teachings of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the founder acharya of the worldwide Hare Krishna Movement (ISKCON). The organization's mission is to awaken Krishna consciousness in every heart, following the authentic Vedic tradition of Gaudiya Vaishnavism.

## Srila Prabhupada — Founder Acharya

His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada (1896–1977) was the Founder-Acharya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON). At the age of 70, he travelled from India to New York with little money and a suitcase of books, founding ISKCON on July 13, 1966. Over the next 11 years, he:

- Established 108 temples across six continents
- Initiated around 10,000 disciples
- Circled the globe 14 times despite his advanced age
- Translated and commented on over 80 volumes of Vedic literature including Bhagavad-gita As It Is, Srimad-Bhagavatam, and Sri Caitanya-caritamrita
